Maia Williamson was born in 2001 in the United Kingdom, moving to the United States at a young age. Her first introduction to sculpture was working as a studio assistant to Pablo Edwardo, a sculptor working in monumental public art. Feeling a call to pursue public sculpture, Maia chose to move to New York City in 2021 to study sculpture at the Grand Central Atelier. While there, she worked for several professional sculptors on large scale sculpture projects, continuing to build her skills both in the classroom and outside of it.
Upon her graduation from Grand Central Atelier in 2025, Maia was offered the role of Director of the atelier's sculpture program alongside Samuel Davis. Maia specializes in figurative sculpture, while also continuing to work alongside Heather Personett on large-scale botanical relief installations.
